- UK CAA Class 2 Initials, Renewals and Revalidations
- FAA Class 2 medicals (initial or renewal)
My practice is fully computerised and in most cases a medical certificate will be available by the time you leave.
Applying for a CAA UK Class 2 medical
You now need to obtain a CAA Portal Account in order to apply for a UK Class 2 medical. The process is entirely online and no paper forms are used. Details on how to obtain a portal account are contained in CAA Document CAP 1902 (enter this reference in the search box of the CAA website). It takes about one month to obtain.
Once you have a Portal account, you need to add “Medical Service’ to your available services. This should appear as an option when you log into your portal account and needs to be added as the Portal is used for an increasing number of other CAA services.
Once ‘Medical Services’ is added, you should find a questionnaire (similar questions to the old paper MED160 form) to answer. You will also need to pay a fee to the CAA in advance of the medical for using this service.
Unless all of the above (including online payment of the CAA fee) have been done, the CAA system will not allow a medical to be loaded and a certificate issued on the day.
